A rare varietal Syrah bottling for us, the 2018 was grown in the clay and calcareous rock of our Home Ranch Vineyard. Fermented using a judicious amount of whole cluster, this is a bright but not unsubstantial take on the variety with approachable fruit and relaxed tannins that make it an attractive, easygoing springtime red. Layers of blackberry, black plum, and blueberry jam combine with a distinctive flinty minerality, and hints of black peppercorn, followed by notes of lavender, rosemary, and bay leaf.
