Perched in a highland valley at the southern tip of Monterey County, our vineyards, with their wide variation in diurnal temperature and rocky soils, provide an excellent setting for the classic grape varieties of Spain and Portugal. This Tempranillo bottling originated in the rows of a specially selected hillside block of our Y Ranch Vineyard with soils rich in calcareous rock and broken shale. It was fermented in a single, small lot and aged in French oak for 18 months. The result is a subtle, medium-bodied wine with restrained fruit, and elegant texture, and subtle tannins. Black and red cherry, black currant, and blackberry are accompanied by hints of spice and smoke.
