Perched in a highland valley at the southern tip of Monterey County, our vineyards, with their wide variation in diurnal temperature and rocky soils, provide an excellent setting for the classic grape varieties of Spain and Portugal.This 2017 Tempranillo is the product of our Panhandle and Y Ranch Vineyard plantings, joining the structure and linearity of the Panhandle's granite soils to the finesse and the aromatics typical of the shale and clay of the Y Ranch site. It was fermented with only native yeasts and aged in French and American oak for eighteen months. Notes of blackberry and black cherry combine with hints of lavender, cedar, tobacco, and sage.
