Perched in a highland valley at the southern tip of Monterey County, our vineyards, with their wide variation in diurnal temperature and rocky soils, provide an excellent setting for the classic grape varieties of Spain and Portugal.This 2016 Tempranillo is the product of a planting of Old WOrlkd clones in our Panhandle Vineyard on a hillside running from decomposed granite and sand down to clay. A robust and well-structures bottling that shows the promise of this new site, our inaugural release was fermented in small lots and aged in French oak for 18 months. Notes of blackberry and black cherry combine with hints of lavender, cedar, tobacco, and sage.
